| THE MANDOLAS (Cork City, IRL) |
The Mandolas are a 4-piece folk/pop group based in Cork, Ireland. The band make use of a wide range of acoustic instruments (mandolin, mandola, acoustic guitar, bouzouki, banjo and viola) as well as incorporating lavish 4-part harmonies into their music. The Mandolas perform original material and combine Irish and English folk traditions with their unique & earthy sound.
The group consists of Michael Grace (Kilkenny), Colm Hayes (Cork), and brothers Paddy & Dorian Kelly (West Cork/ originally hailing from Yorkshire). Drawing inspiration from the likes of Planxty, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Fleet Foxes, The Mandolas unique folk stylings combine a wide array of musical influences to create a fresh, warm sound. In the last year, The Mandolas have been steadily making a name for themselves in Ireland, and have had the privilege of playing alongside the likes of Paul Brady, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Mike Hanrahan (Stockton's Wing), Duke Special, Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy), & Damien Dempsey.
The Mandolas have recently released their debut EP, 'My Greatest Day' and have recently finished a tour of Ireland promoting the release. In November 2012, the band released a single, 'Marianne', which reached no 23 on the iTunes Ireland Singles chart.

| RYAN CONROY (Philadelphia, USA) |
Ryan Conroy was born and raised just north of Philadelphia in the Lehigh Valley area. Due to his parents’ completely opposite tastes in music, Ryan grew up listening to varied styles of music ranging from Pink Floyd to Roy Orbison. He started playing guitar in 1999 while attending Kutztown University in PA.
Ryan’s main musical influences are Bradley Nowell of Sublime and Bob Marley, along with a mix of everything else he encountered throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, consisting of; alternative, new wave, punk, hip hop, jam band, and many other sub genres. Throughout his college years, Ryan’s musical experiences consisted mainly of playing late night drunken sing alongs at house parties and impromptu jam sessions with local musicians.
In late 2008, Ryan formed and fronted the Tad Mitchells Band, an original contemporary alt rock band in which he performed lead vocals and rhythm guitar. He was also the primary songwriter for the band. After years of gigging with TMB, Ryan shifted focus to his solo singer/songwriter career and worked on multiple side projects ranging from fronting an unnamed acoustic-rock/hip-hop trio to writing songs and playing bass for the well known hardcore punk band Rodent Lord on their summer 2012 east coast tour.
Ryan’s years of diverse gigging experience has given him the insight to comfortably perform in front of any audience of all ages and walks of life. His solo acoustic work could be described as Blues/Folk Reggae or the cliché Indie Acoustic Rock, but when asked to describe what genre he best falls into, Ryan apologetically states, “It’s tough to decide. I’m hoping someone else does it for me eventually.”

Von Pink Floyd bis Roy Orbison reichten zwar die Einflüsse, die er von seinen musikalisch komplett verschiedenen Elternteilen mit auf den Weg bekam. Dennoch wuchs in Conroy ein passionierter Musiker heran – „Cross Pressure“ heißt es, wenn man mit zwei zu einem Thema gegensätzlichen Meinungen aufwächst. Die Orientierungslosigkeit führt in der Regel zu Desinteresse – bei Ryan Conroy war das zum Glück anders.
Während seines Studiums an der Kutztown University in seiner Heimatstadt Philadelphia, begann er mit dem Gitarrespielen. Neben den beiden Größen Bradley Nowell (Sublime) und Bob Marley flickte er sich einen Teppich aus allem, was er in den 80er und 90er Jahren entdeckte – Alternative, New Wave, Punk, Hip Hop, Jam Band und zahlreichen anderen Subgenres.
Conroys Jahre in verschieden Musikprojekten unterschiedlicher Genres mit zahlreichen Auftritten haben ihm immerhin eins gegeben: Die Fähigkeit, vor Publikum jeden Alters und Lebensabschnitts souverän zu performen. Jetzt hüpft er zum ersten Mal über den großen Teich – mit einer dicken Portion Amerika-Sound im Gepäck. Von smoothen Blues-Einflüssen nicht ganz befreit, führt er uns von sehnsüchtigen Singer/Songwriter-Melodien bis hin zu seicht-poppigen Wohlfühlmomenten. Fragt man den Künstler selbst, wie er seine Musik am besten beschreiben würde, macht er es sich leicht. „Das ist ziemlich schwer zu entscheiden. Ich hoffe, am Ende tut es jemand anderes für mich.“ Man könnte seine Soloarbeit als Blues/Folk Reggae bezeichnen – oder aber schlicht als Verkörperung des klassischen Akustik-Rock.
