For Melbourne based singer/songwriter Ben Riddle it was always a delicate process from a perfectionist at heart. But with only a couple of microphones and a quiet bedroom beside a not so quiet main road, there was musical magic to be made. Over the period of 6 months, Ben has been arduously involved in the self producing and recording of his debut album titled ‘On The Rise’, which was released by independent distribution label Vitamin records in 2011.

Rooted in folk style melodies, Ben’s clever harmonies add a depth and character to his tunes while retaining an unpretentious and organic authenticity. For Ben, the recording process is where the songs really come to life. It is layering and building this musical picture for you to hear, complex with multiple harmonies, experimental percussion, and interweaving guitar sections to produce somewhat of a journey in each song.

Following a successful sell out album launch show in Australia, Ben is set for a solo European tour during October, playing Germany, France and Eastern European cities. On The Rise is the debut of this lineage of songs destined to hear from this aspiring young artist.

Für den in Melbourne ansässigen Singer/Songwriter und leidenschaftlichen Perfektionisten Ben Riddle war es ein heikler Prozess nur mit ein paar Mikrofonen in einem ruhigen Schlafzimmer neben einer nicht ganz so ruhigen Hauptstraße musikalische Magie entstehen zu lassen, doch es ist ihm geglückt:. Über 6 Monate hinweg war Ben mühsam vertieft in die Produktion und Aufnahme seines Debutalbums On The Rise, welches 2011 von dem unabhängigen Vertriebslabel‚ Vitamin Records veröffentlicht wurde.

Verwurzelt in Folk-Melodien, fügen Bens clevere Harmonien Tiefe und Charakter in seine Musik unter Beibehaltung einer anspruchslosen und organischen Authentizität. Für Ben ist der Aufnahmeprozess erst dann komplett, wenn die Songs beginnen zu leben. Es ist die Schichtung und die Erschaffung eines musikalischen Bildes und dieses hörbar zu machen. Aufwändig mit mehreren Harmonien, experimentellen Percussions und verflechtenden Gitarrenabschnitten erschafft er in jedem Song eine eigene Reise.

Dem erfolgreichen und ausverkauften Album-Start seines Debutalbums in Australien folgten weitere Auftritte in weiten Teilen Europas.

WILLE AND THE BANDITS (Plymouth, UK)

The Story of Wille and the Bandits begun upon Wille’s decision to leave for Australia (his birth place) after finishing school in the UK, being young and naive it wasn’t long before he ran out of money. Lying around the hostel was a battered old guitar, knowing his way around a few chords and being able to sing a little he embarked on a mission to see if he could make enough money busking on the street to cover his rent that day. This was the birth of a dream, an ambition and a journey that would take him and his band around the world playing music. 

The day was a success and he ended up busking his way from Sydney to Cairns meeting many inspirational people along the way. One encounter that will never be forgotten was seeing a guy playing a lap steel guitar on the street. That busker went on to mentor Wille as they travelled together. Wille is now considered one of Europe’s finest Slide guitar players.

Die Geschichte von “Wille and the Bandits” begann mit Willes Entscheidung in sein Geburtsland Australien zurückzukehren, nachdem er die Schule in England abgeschlossen hatte. Jung und naiv wie er war, dauerte es nicht lange bis er pleite war. In der Nähe seiner Unterkunft lag eine alte abgenutzte Gitarre - da er sich mit Akkorden ein wenig auskannte und dazu ein bisschen singen konnte, war er von seiner Mission überzeugt: Er wollte herausfinden, ob er genug Geld mit Straßenmusik verdienen würde, um seine Unterkunft für den Tag bezahlen zu können. Dies war die Geburt eines Traumes, eines Ziels und einer Reise, die ihn und seine Band um die ganze Welt führen würde um Musik zu machen.

Der Tag war ein Erfolg und er beendete das Straßenmusizieren mit seinem Weg von Sydney nach Cairns, auf dem er viele inspirierende Menschen traf. Einer, der ihm begegnete und der nie in Vergessenheit geraten wird, hatte ihn auf der Straße Lap Steel Gitarre spielen sehen. Dieser Straßenmusiker wurde Willes Mentor als sie zusammen reisten. Wille wird seither als einer der besten Slide- Gitarrenspieler Europas betrachtet.
