The debut album " What about the finches" by The Monotrol Kid (B) is going to be released on the label "SONGS & WHISPERS). Available for download and in store on Friday, 13th of January, 2012.
Blackbirds, robin redbreasts, song thrushes - but what about the finches? Erik Van den Broeck, the man from Brussels, who is the person behind the one-man project "The Monotrol Kid" is dealing with this question. By releasing the album "What About The Finches" The Monotrol Kid shows that less is sometimes really more: He played several gigs in Europe and enthused his listeners with his minimalist instrumentation (we are talking about a guitar, sometimes a mouth harp and his feeling voice). Andorra, Ireland, Belgium and Germany are some of the countries where he was touring."What About The Finches" is the first album of the Belgian and includes ten songs of the best singer-songwriter-quality to be found anywhere.

The songs deal with love and with daydreaming, it's about the time that has passed away and the time that lies ahead.

The Monotrol Kid creates beautiful small worlds with his lyrics; he narrates stories and invites the listeners to join in with the lyrics and create their own universe with them. He is inspired by the numerous travels he has made and the interesting people, who have crossed his way all over Europe. His music is for the friends and fans of Golden Smog, Woody Guthrie, R.E.M. and David Gray, but in the end it is his own individualistic style that leaves the listener hanging in the air… Just like a Finch.

The Monotrol Kid schafft mit seinen Texten kleine Welten, erzählt Geschichten und lädt zum Weiterdenken eben dieser Geschichten ein. Inspiration für seine Texte und seine Musik nimmt The Monotrol Kid aus den zahlreichen Reisen und den damit verbundenen Kontakten zu Menschen, die seinen Weg gekreuzt und beeinflusst haben. Die Musik von The Monotrol Kid ist für Fans von Golden Smog, Woody Guthrie, R.E.M. und David Gray, aber im Endeffekt eben doch etwas ganz Eigenes und Individuelles. Ehrliches bodenständiges Songwriting ohne viel Aufwand. Nur ein Mann mit seiner Gitarre und den Worten eines Reisenden.
