The Black Maria Memorial Fund (London, UK)
The Black Maria Memorial Fund are Kieran Haynes, Windom the Wooden Owl, and an ever-changing sunset of musical friends. Kieran writes and performs songs about writing and performing songs about chess, the alphabet and lovesick sea creatures. The band's new album, set for release in summer 2011, is called 'The Black Maria Memorial Fund ... loves you.' It was recorded in a little church in the pounding-heart of the English countryside, by the magnificent Johnny Parry.
Buzzard Lope are an alt-jazz trio from London, ploughing the rich furrows of Tom Waits’ tragicomedy and Elliott Smith’s melancholy. A hybrid of jazz, pop and alternative sensibilities, Buzzard Lope are shaped by the pop-tinged songwriting of pianist and singer Roger Illingworth, jazz double bass of Adam Jarvis and distinctive stylings of Brazilian drummer Raphael Saib.
“Buzzard Lope blend rich jazz piano with sublime bassslines and powerfull, experimental drums to fine effect. Kieran schreibt und performt Songs über das Performen und Schreiben von Songs, über das Alphabet und liebeskranken Seeungeheuern. Das neue Album, welches im Sommer 2011 veröffentlicht werden soll, heißt „the Black Maria Memorial Fund … loves you“. Passenderweise wurde es in einer kleiner Kirche im Herzen Englands vom großartigen Johnny Parry aufgenommen.
Der Band, bestehend aus Songwriter und Pianist und Sänger Roger Illingworth, dem Jazz Bassisten Adam Jarvis und dem unverwechselbaren brasilianischen Schlagzeuger Raphael Saib, wird nachgesagt, dass sie Einflüsse eines Tom Waits mit der Melancholie von Elliot Smith verbinden.
