Am 15. März ab 20 Uhr präsentiert "SONGS & WHISPERS" die kanadische Songschreiberin ChristaCouture und das Quartett Rivers of England aus Bath, Großbritannien im Sendesaal Bremen.

In der zweiten Ausgabe unter dem Motto „Pure and Acoustic“ werden die Musiker die einzigartige Akustik des Sendesaals nutzen und ihr Publikum auf einen „unplugged“-Ausflug mitnehmen. Für Rivers of England gibt es gleich doppelten Grund zur Vorfreude: die Band feiert die Veröffentlichung ihres Albums „Of Trivial and Gargantuan“ und wird in einer bis dato noch nie existierenden Live-Besetzung auftreten.

Christa Couture beschreibt sich als Sängerin und Songschreiberin mit Scharfsinnigkeit, Unermüdlichkeit und dem Herz an der richtigen Stelle. Als kraftvolle und wendige Sängerin bewegt sie sich zwischen Gitarre und Klavier, und von beherztem Bluegrass bis hin zu leichtem Kabarett. Einen dezenten Hauch von Country-Musik verdankt Couture dem Zusammenspiel mit dem Multiinstrumentalisten Diederik van Dijk. Zusammen bilden sie ein unaufhaltsames Duo, dessen musikalische Chemie sich in Windeseile auch auf das Publikum überträgt. Wie die kanadisch-niederländische Paarung zusammenkam, ist eine von vielen Geschichten, die sie erzählen wird.

Die zwei- bis siebenköpfige Formation Rivers of England rund um Bandleader Robin Spalding hat keine feste Live-Besetzung. „Mit wie vielen Personen wir auftreten, hängt von unserer Stimmung und von der jeweiligen Verfügbarkeit ab!“, klärt der Brite auf. Beim Konzert im Sendesaal wird Spalding erstmals in der Kombination aus Annie Tyhurst, Jacob Tyghe und Brian Madigan auftreten. Gemeinsam präsentieren sie einen Mix aus Folk und Alternative mit ihrem ganz eigenen akustischen Sound aus Cello, Schlagzeug, Bass, Gitarre und Gesang. Ohne Scheu vor musikalischen Experimenten, kreieren sie ein unvergessliches Hörerlebnis mit leichten, ausgewählten Tönen, kunstvoll eingebettet in zeitlose Melodien. Im Fokus ihres Auftritts steht das im März 2014 erscheinende Album „Of Trivial And Gargantuan“, das sich mit dem Thema des Mikro- und Makrokosmos beschäftigt und unlängst in die Playlisten der BBC-Stationen aufgenommen wurde

On March 15th, at 8pm "SONGS & WHISPERS" presents the Canadian Songwriter Christa Couture and the quartet Rivers of England from Bath, Great Britain at Sendesaal Bremen.

In the second edition under the slogan “Pure and Acoustic” the musicians will make use of the unique acoustics of the Sendesaal and take their audience on an “unplugged”- excursion. For Rivers of England there are two causes to look forward to: The band celebrates the release of their album “Of Trivial and Gargantuan” and will appear in an unprecedented live cast.

Christa Couture established herself as a singer and songwriter with sharp-shooting wit, effortless grace and heart-on-sleeve intensity. As powerful and flexible singer, she moves between guitar and piano and from spirited Bluegrass to slight cabaret. A subtle hint of country music owes Couture the interaction with the multi-instrumentalist Diederik van Dijk. Together they form an unstoppable duo whose musical chemistry carries over in no time to the audience. How these Canadian-Dutch pairing came together, is only one of many stories that they will tell at the Sendesaal.

The two-to seven-piece band Rivers of England around bandleader Robin Spalding has no stable live cast. “The number of people performing depends on our mood and the current availability!”, clarifies the Briton. At the concert in Sendesaal they will first appear in the combination of Annie Tyhurst, Jacob Tyghe and Brain Madigan. Together they present a mix of folk and alternative with its own unique acoustic sound of cello, drums, bass, guitar and vocals. Without fear of musical experimentation, they create and unforgettable listening experience with light selected sounds, artfully embedded in timeless melodies.
The focus of their performance is the album “Of Trivial And Gargantuan” which will be published in March 2014. It deals with the topic of the microcosm and the macrocosm and was recently added to the play lists of BBC stations.
