''SONGS & WHISPERS '' - CIRCUIT 11/2013 (15.11. - 08.12.2013)

ASSUNTA & THE LIGHT ORCHESTRA (Antwerpen, BE)
The singer-songwriter Assunta Mandaglio with Italian roots and guitar player Pieter Thys, decided to finally start working closely together as a duo, after exploring music in the last 15 years in different bands (Assunta Mano, Buscemi, Balaxy Orchestra, Troissoeur...) and creating 3 albums together. (Balaxy orchestra, Millenniums)In the past 10 years they both have been performing on big festivals in Belgium and Netherlands. They have been touring with different projects in Taiwan, China, Turky, Czech Republic, Bulgaria…
Their formal main projects Assunta Mano and Balaxy Orchestra have always been picked up by national radio (Assunta Mano) and even the Worldmusic charts (Balaxy Orchestra). Assunta & The Light Orchestra was created out of their eager to keep on working together as soulmates for life and out of a deep passion for music.
The combination of Assunta Mandaglio’s passionate voice and her beautiful songs together with the unique sound of  Pieter Thys’s guitars creates a very unique atmosphere in the singer songwriters tradition.
Their performances are always a big adventure as they speak for themselves…  always be aware of playing the right songs that fits the moment. Improvisation is always just around the corner.  They always take the challenge  to play their beautiful music as if it is their very first time.
But life is the biggest inspiration for both, Assunta writes about big and small things that happen in life. Their music opens a door to an inspiring world where the audience gets the chance to travel trough thoughts en emotions. After playing 20 concerts last year 2012-2013, they have been recording in the summer of 2013 and they're working on their first CD. The cd release is planned for spring 2014.

MARK LOTTERMAN (Rotterdam, NL)
www.marklotterman.nl
Mark Lotterman kick started his career in 2001, accompanied on his first tour by Simon Vinkenoog; a famous Dutch beat poet and once a companion of Allen Ginsberg. Mark and his band played, Vinkenoog recited his poems.  Their collaboration ended in 2005, Mark moved to Amsterdam and started the writing process for his first album "Pain & Entertainment". The album was released late 2007. On the album Mark sings a drum 'n bass duet with Johnny Dowd (USA), the American master of alternative Country-Blues. They met on a party in a small Dutch town called Zoetermeer. Mark  From 2006 onwards Mark and his band played several nights as Johnny's support-act. In addition, Mark and his band also played as opening act for Canned Heat. After the release of “Pain & Entertainment” Mark moved to Mijnsheerenland (situated near Rotterdam) where he started writing his second album: "Better things to Do" (released in 2009). In 2009 and 2010 Mark toured with one of the biggest Dutch bands de Dijk and Canadian songwriter Wax Mannequin. He also played guitar with Jim White on the famous Crossing Border Festival. In 2011 Mark and his (new) band were invited to record a new album with producer Frans Hagenaars, founder of the famous Excelsior label. Mark's songs are well known for their variety of styles (country, rock, electro and ska) and their absurd storytelling lyrics. His lyrics are moving, funny and sad. His live performances are known for their improvisation and expression.
