The Hobos crossed paths in London to bring you traveling folk music with twinges of bluegrass and a longing for the open road. Described as "beauteous sharp tongued acoustica" by Trashville Promotions, this vocally led ("think Laura Marling and the pop hooks of Alanis Morrissette - strong, flying voice" - Dovilemusic) and musically driven ("melodic, twinkling and atmospheric sweet musings" - Broken Toy Music Promotions) trio is excited to be touring Germany, Belgium & The Netherlands.---------------------------- German version ----------------------------

Mainly influenced by listening to folklorist Alan Lomax's field recordings, and growing up listening to her uncles' Filipino folk guitar playing, Aireene's lyrics celebrate human beings being human, stories from ghosts and the living, and identities of cultures within cultures. Her music draws from latin/african rhythms, folk and bluegrass pickings and inspirations from gospel music, with stompin', swayin', timeless, deep, down to earth vocals, taken to different places and time.

Aireene Espiritu wurde stark von den Aufnahmen des Musikforschers Alan Lomax, die sie zufällig entdeckte, beeinflusst und wuchs mit den Klängen der philippinischen Folk-Gitarre ihres Onkels auf. Aus dieser Mischung entstand der bodenständige Sound Aireenes ESPIRITUS, der seine Wurzeln in so verschiedenen Genres wie Folk, Bluegrass und Gospel, aber auch in afrikanischen und Latino-Rhythmen hat. ESPIRITUS Lieder feiern den Menschen als Menschen und erzählen Geschichten von Geistern und Lebenden sowie von kultureller Identität. Ihr Gesang ist ebenso zeitlos und bodenständig wie ihre Musik, getragen vom zarten Spiel ihrer Tenor-Ukulele. Aireene fühlt sich seit ihrer Jugend hingezogen zu den Geschichten des amerikanischen Südens: Delta Blues, Lieder aus lang vergangenen Zeiten, die aus ehrlichen Emotionen geboren wurden und von den Härten und Freuden des Lebens erzählen. Sie lernte Gitarre zu Liedern von Robert Johnson, Ledbelly, Etta James, Nina Simone, Odetta und nutzte diese Inspiration, um ihre eigenen Songs zu schreiben.

The Hobos begegneten sich in London und haben sehr melodischen Folk mit Bluegrass-Komponenten im Gepäck. Ihr Name ist Programm, besingen sie doch in ihrer Musik das Verlangen nach der weiten, offenen Straße. The Hobos sind nicht auf den Mund gefallen und genau das macht sie so interessant. Die Stimme der Frontfrau ist eine Mischung aus Laura Marling und Alanis Morissette. Eine Mischung, die ihresgleichen sucht.
Die Musik von The Hobos verleitet zur Tagträumerei, zur beschwingten Flucht aus dem Alltag.
Broken Toy Music Promotions bezeichnet ihre Musik als eine “melodische, funkelnde, atmosphärische, süße Träumerei“.
