Simon Hudson is a guitarist singer-songwriter whose highly original music weaves a captivating blend of world, roots and folk, with influences including The Cat Empire, Jose Gonzalez, Neil Finn, and Paul Simon. Based in Melbourne, he has toured with his band throughout Europe and Australia and played festivals, bars and countless rooms of happy music-lovers. Simon Hudson Band’s 2012 EP Time And Space is a remarkable showcase of skilled songwriting, addictive roots rhythms and honest lyricism. For their live show they take a flexible approach in the delivery of their songs to suit the mood required, whether it be acoustic with strings, full band with percussion and horn section, or a straight-up roots trio.
On September 19th they will launch their new album ‘Earthman’ at the Thornbury Theatre,
Melbourne in a spectacular show with special guests. They have released three singles from the album. ’Do Me A Favour’ is a groove-based funk stomper, ‘Never Knew Why’, an infectious roots anthem; and ‘I Know You’ll Be Alright’, an Afro-influenced ballad. Funds for the album were raised using crowd funder Pozible, their fan-base investing more than $10,000 into backing the ongoing success of their music.
In Jan 2016 their ‘Flight of the Earthman’ tour will take them through regional Victoria to Adelaide, then up the east coast to Sydney. This will be followed by a European tour in July, including Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.

Von Worldmusic und Roots bis hin zu Folk ist alles darin zu finden - quasi Weltmusik 2.0. Sein Musikerleben begann bereits in der Kindheit: Ein Freund drückte dem Australier eines Tages eine Gitarre in die Hand und bat Hudson darum, dass er darauf den „Ententanz“ vorspielen solle.
Aus musikalischer Hinsicht deutlich prägender war jedoch der Moment, als ein Schlagzeug Einzug in sein Leben hielt. Damit begann eine Reise in die weite Welt der Percussion inklusive Stationen bei afrikanischen Trommelmeistern, Auftritten bei den olympischen Spielen und mit Tanztruppen in ganz Australien. Mit der Veröffentlichung ihrer EP „Time and Space“ 2012 hat die Simon Hudson Band bereits ein außergewöhnliches Talent an Songwriting mit ehrlichen Texten und groovigen Beats bewiesen.
