Brooke Sharkey’s songs grow ever more diverse, jumping from French ballads to English folk and even gypsy frenzy with her fresh line-up of violin, double ass and French horn. Regulars in east london’s music clubs, where streams of working musicians mix folk, jazz, latin and blues, Brooke and her band exhibit an eclectic mix of styles with an exceptionally high level of musicianship. This new band provides the perfect platform for Brooke to transport the audience into her world. Her songs are achingly personal, presenting the tribulations of life and complex intimacies in all their vibrant, heartbreaking glory.
Brooke released an E.P. in 2010 and was played by Gideon Coe on BBC Radio 6, and played gigs in Paris, Moscow and New York. The band formed last August to play the Chai Wallah stage at Greenman festival, resulting in an opportunity to record Brooke’s debut album in World Circuit’s Livingston studios. The album taster, 5 stripped down versions of album tracks, is set to be released in May and the Album in September this year

In den Musikclubs im Osten Londons, wo sich Einflüsse von Folk, Jazz, Latin und Blues vermischen, sind Brooke und ihre Band längst Stammgäste und bekannt für ihre eklektische Stilmischung und ein außergewöhnlich hohes Maß an Musikalität. Für Brooke bietet ihre neue Band die perfekte Möglichkeit, das Publikum in ihre Welt zu entführen. Schon fast schmerzhaft persönlich beschreiben Ihre Songs die Wirrungen des Lebens und komplexe Intimitäten in all ihrer herzzerreißenden Herrlichkeit. Im Jahr 2010 veröffentlichte Brooke eine EP, die von Gideon Coe auf BBC Radio 6 gespielt wurde und spielte Gigs in Paris, Moskau und New York. Die Band gründete sich im August letzten Jahres, um auf der Chai-Wallah-Bühne auf dem Greenman Festival zu spielen. Anschließen bot sich die Gelegenheit, Brookes Debüt-Album in den World Circuit Livingston Studios aufzunehmen. Im Mai wird ein Album-Taster mit fünf verkürzten Tracks des Albums erscheinen, das im September dieses Jahres nachfolgen wird und bereits während des CIRCUIT 05/2012 live zu erleben ist.

The Consultants are a shifting group of musicians focused around band-leader and song writer Adam Beattie, whose distinctive voice ties together their eclectic mix of 'folk stews and dirty blues'. They are based in London where they perform varied, emotional shows, verging sometimes on the theatrical. Their most recent album We'll Wave From The Shore is a collection of finely crafted yet charmingly ramshackle songs, which remain somehow contemporary whilst dealing in timeless ideas and traditional genres. The band are now working on a new body of work. Adam has teamed up with fellow Scottish musicians David Tunstall on double bass and Alastair Caplin on violin. The songs lurch from traditional Scottish melodies to swing and blues and back again. They will start recording their new album ‘Songs of one hundred years’ this summer.


During CIRCUIT 05/2012 Adam Beattie will play some shows with The Consultans and, but he will also play the bass in Brooke Sharkeys set.

The Consultants sind eine wechselnde Gruppe von Musikern rund um Bandleader und Songwriter Adam Beattie, dessen unverwechselbare Stimme die eklektische Mischung aus Folk-Eintopf und Dirty Blues zusammenhält. Ihre Basis ist London, wo sie ihre vielseitigen, emotionalen und manchmal ans theatralische grenzenden Shows performen. Ihr letztes Album "We'll Wave From The Shore" ist eine Sammlung von sorgfältig komponierten, aber auf charmante Weise dennoch heruntergekommen klingenden Songs, die zwar irgendwie zeitgenössisch bleiben, zugleich aber von zeitlosen Ideen und traditionellen Genres bestimmt werden. Die Band arbeitet derzeit an einem neuen Werk: Adam hat sich mit seinen Landsleuten David Tunstall am Kontrabass und Alastair Caplin an der Violine zusammengetan. Ihre Lieder schwanken von traditionellen schottischen Melodien zu Swing und Blues und wieder zurück. In diesem Sommer werden sie mit den Aufnahmen zum ihrem neuen Album "Songs of one hundred years" beginnen.


Im CIRCUIT 05/2012 wird Adam Beattie in Teilen zusammen mit The Consultans auftreten, jedoch vorrangig am Bass zusammen mit Brooke Sharkey auftreten.
